"please install your witty title here"

coz I'm too lazy to do it.
its 12:43am... I'm doing some of tomorrows work so my Tuesday this week wont be as horrific as it was last week (9pm still at work! not unusual for some... but seriously. i am NOT that much of a workaholic!)
u might wonder "why, if she claims to be working, is Elle typing in her blog." uh duh! coz I'm bored with my work! like obvious much!!

lol... ok ok... I'll quit it with the bimbo talk... but yes... I'm bored. and yes, i do know that you're tired of hearing that. so someone! give me a constructive solution please (and by that i do not mean telling me to shut the heck up - you could try that... but i cant say you'll get the type of reaction you were hoping for.)

Anyway... seriously, someone tell me what to do with my life... coz I'm really beginning to have some doubts about whether or not I'm qualified to be making any decisions pertaining to it...

sigh. don't worry, its probably just that it being past my bedtime is giving me the gloomies.
Maybe i better stop spreading the love and get back to work so i actually get done and go to sleep soon.

Cotton Wool

that's what I feel like my head's stuffed with.

today has been so mind numbingly boring! I've not done a single constructive thing!
and mainly, what I've thought about all day is what to buy a friend of mine for her birthday. which is this sunday.
And i totally forgot about that till she called yesterday to invite me over to her party.
We've been friends since we were four! i suck :P
Of course, this is only the first time i have EVER forgotten her birthday. and she always forgets mine... but that is really not an excuse!
anyway. anyone who knows me is well aware of the fact that i totally suck at keeping dates in my head.
Which kinda makes me wonder why i took history during my A levels... hmmmmm.... not so bright.

Anyway. What to gift?
December is always the worst month because of that one single question.
There are all the Christmas presents to worry about.
And more then just family etc, there's also the dumb secret santa at work thing. Which puts u in the non-enviable position of having to find a weeks worth of small presents for someone you don't even know all that well! (There are really only so many items of stationary that are gift-able to one person you know...)
and then i have two close friends with birthdays... and weirdly, they're two of the hardest women to shop for that i have EVER known!

So i guess we all know what I'm going to spend my Saturday morning doing. and yes, i do know that going gift hunting the day before a party is kinda last minute. but its not like i have a choice.

Changes

The rage over the terror attacks in Mumbai is making people sit up and notice that there are some major changes that need to be made. But more importantly, people are actually starting to takes steps to try and make these changes.

I think the sad thing about our country is that no matter how open, or willing to change we are, the economic diversity and the sheer population means that class distinctions are very much alive and thriving.
The fallout of this is that since the "upper" and "upper-middle" classes (the people with the higher income, education and access to information) are in the minority, they aren't the ones who actually choose our politicians, or feel like they have the power to change things.

I know that i for one don't even feel like there's much point to me voting (although obviously i do it anyway. If i didn't make the effort then i wouldn't have the right to crib!)
And after the recent JD(S) rally in Bangalore caused major traffic jams [more info about this here] The responses of some of the party leaders to people's complaints made it quite obvious that they don't think we matter all that much either.

This was emphasised after the terror attacks when one BJP party leader commented (in reaction to the recent protests) that "Some women wearing lipstick and powder have taken to streets in Mumbai and are abusing politicians spreading dissatisfaction against democracy. This is what terrorists are doing in Jammu and Kashmir,"

When something like the Mumbai attacks occurs - such a major, inexcusable and unforgivable lapse in intelligence - is it too much to expect that the people who are supposed to be leading and protecting us should know when there's a threat of this magnitude to our safety and act on it?

And if they don't, don't we have the right to object?

It really makes you wonder, who exactly are our politicians governing this country for? This is India. WE are India. its not a matter of gender, or income, or religion, or cast or class!
or it shouldn't be.

Personally i dont think this is an idealistic concept.
Our country is wonderful because of its diversity. Its vibrant, changeable, adaptable and beautiful because of it diversity.
An act of terrorism effects us all.
