Freelancing is the bomb

You know, I never wanted to get into copywriting or editing when I was younger, but over the last couple of years I've realised that a large portion of my work is exactly that. Obviously I've never had a problem with it on a purely capabilities basis, but it just never seemed like a job I would find particularly inspiring.

And it's not. Although it can be kind of fun sometime, which is why now that I’m freelancing I take on some editing jobs, which is working out pretty good on the whole.

And then there are the times when I get a job where I have to edit 100 descriptors for a client, and they all look kind of like this:

Barbie Musical Jewelry Box

Barbie Turns Around As The Music Plays. A Barbie Statue fits on the top of the Jewelry Box; wind up Barbie & open the drawer & Music plays! Barbie that fits on top of Jewelry Box. There appears to be 1 drawer that swing outwards & the Jewelry Box plays music & Barbie turns while the music plays.

Truly, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry.

Well I started out laughing, but now I’m on descriptor number 33, and all I can think is;

“Seriously! Are you brain damaged? How hard is it to spell jewellery? NOT THAT HARD! And even if it is... haven’t you ever heard of spell check?

Also, who in their right mind thinks that saying the same thing incoherently three times makes for a good product description? Furthermore, I think we got the fact that it’s a musical jewellery box with a Barbie on top just from the name alone.

Lastly, drawers do NOT swing outwards, they pull, that’s why they’re DRAWERS. You draw them out. It’s a pretty simple concept you know.

GIVE ME SOMETHING USEFUL HERE! Like what tune does the box play? Is the box pink? (I’m guessing yes, coz this IS Barbie after all), how many compartments does it have? What size is it?

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Sigh.... I am NOT getting paid enough for this.”

And that my friends, is precisely why I would Never Ever be a good full time editor. Thank god for freelancing. At least now I not only get to jump from project to project when one of them starts to make me feel like sticking my head in the freezer and then repeatedly banging the door, but on the whole, I earn enough to keep me in the style to which I have become accustomed.

It’s a good life :) and no, I haven’t yet cleaned up my room...

Whoosh...

I think that was the sound of my life zipping past.
I’m pretty sure I used to have one at one time... but even that is becoming a dim memory. Which brings to mind the question, why have I not been writing in here more? After all, I’m not doing anything better with my time!

Seriously.
You know what I did yesterday?
I slept.
That’s about it really.

Mind you, I actually do have better things to do with my time. But it was a grey and rainy Friday, and I just didn’t feel like it. So I didn’t.
Occasionally being a total layabout is good for you. But I’m starting to see a disturbing pattern here and I don’t think I like it.

SO! Next week I’m done with all that. I have to finish getting my room into order. We had painters redoing the entire house a couple of weeks ago and my room is still in a mess.
I was planning to use this as an opportunity to get all my junk sorted out: throw out or donated the stuff that I no longer want, box up and store the stuff with sentimental value (that I actually never ever even bother with anymore,) and reorder the stuff that I want to keep.
When you take into consideration that the last time I did this was at least 8 years (yeah EIGHT YEARS!) ago, you can imagine the herculean task set before me. I think that’s one of the reasons I don’t feel like getting to it. I did start, but it’s not one of those things you can do in one shot, and now every time I plan to get back to it I feel like there’s “Just So Much To Do!” and put it off...

Ah, my old enemy, procrastination. I guess I never really did learn anything from Morgan and Me.
[Oh, on a total aside, aren’t Stephen Cosgrove's Serendipity books fabulous? I hope someone out there other than me has read them! At one point of time I actually wanted to get a Flutterby tattoo. I’m so happy that they’re going into reprint and are available on Amazon. Although I still have mine from when I was a kid, it gives me hope that a new generation out there will have the chance to read them too!]

Anyway, to get back to the messy room debacle (and solution hopefully), I’ve finally framed my POTC and Underworld Evolution movie posters, so if I want to put them up I have to get my room into order. Should be incentive enough don’t you think?

lets see how u like that...

now, i may be more of a cat person, but i really do LIKE dogs. they're great, even if they do smell. the whole unconditional affection thing is awesome. and they're almost always amusing to have around. Our dog at least; my cutie cutie taffy, who died about two years ago now; was a totally brilliant dog and a complete joy to have around.
BUT
if the idiot who lives two houses down from us doesn't figure out how to keep his bloody dogs from howling and fighting all night long i CAN NOT answer for my actions! what the HELL! how does he sleep through that racket!!

its driving me nuts. really. don't be surprised if you find out one of these days that i no longer post coz I've been taken away to the nut house.
At least I'll be able to sleep if I'm in a nice quite white room. and the padding may actually be comfortable... hmm... the lack of sleep thing is actually making me start to wonder if getting locked up would be that bad. but then, I'm sure the other inmates would be pretty noisy.
ok, i think outside life is on-the-whole preferable! at least out here i can get my hands on brownies.

LOL... i just read over everything i typed up there. and i have to say, if I ran a nut house, I think i'd be seriously considering me as a candidate.

so let me explain a little.
We have a neighbour with three dogs. Two are street dogs that they rescued, and one is a lab. Now I'm not really sure what the whole arrangement is with these, but i think the street ones aren't allowed into the house to sleep. One has some weird problems and dysfunctionality issues from before it got rescued, and now 'Blacky' barks and howls about EVERYTHING (including getting fed apparently - really! that's what the owner told my sis!).

The second street dog is an escape artiste. 'Stripey' manages to scale their compound wall, and then runs about getting into fights with the other street dogs in our colony. and into the colony garbage bin. and into other people’s houses every night.
and somehow, SOMEHOW, she always manages to have all the scuffles she has on a nightly basis, right. outside. my. window! or at least, that's how it sounds.
in fact I can hear her right now. snorfaling away, running and panting and growling and jumping and generally making a bloody nuisance of herself.

And lastly, the lab, who i think wants to be in on all the nonsense that the other two get into, is locked in the house with the peoples every night. and with the peoples is not where 'Banjo' wants to be! oh no... the peoples are all sleeping! that's not exciting at all! so what does he do? well. for the last week or so (maybe the owners are out of town?) Banjo (or at least I assume its him. it sounds like him) has been complaining every night.
right at about 2 am, as i'm about to fall into the kind of sleep where a Harley revving by my head would not wake me, that dratted lab starts up. "ooouuooh uuoohaaa hooohooohooaaa!"
seriously.
its not even like a wolfie, respectable, dignified type howl! he sounds like a 5 year old telling mommy about how the other kids wont let him play.
the first couple of times he started in on the howling it was funny (which may have been because he did it during the day), but i just can't take it anymore!

I have to be up tomorrow at 6am (and that's a story for later) but here i am, unable to sleep, coz my idiot freaking neighbour is apparently as deaf as an ninety year old man who was in an artillery unit during the second world war - or is such a sucky person, that he goes on holiday and doesn't leave someone behind to take care of his dogs during the night.

so bah, humbug to him!
and if he doesn't figure out how to shut his dogs up, I'm gonna go over there one of these nights with an air horn, break into his house, shove it up against his ear and press the button.

SUPER BUSY

And wishing i was still vela (which means footloose and fancy free for those of you who dont understand Hindi).

And GAH! i just realised this is waaay more like a tweet then a blog post. and u know how i feel about twitter....

19 May 2010

Sabbaticalised

Reading this blog one would think that I spend all my time on holiday... which has essentially been true for the last couple of months. So guess its a pretty fair representation!
Sooo... lets see. To catch ya'll up (assuming of course that anyone still reads this), I've been jobless since Jan. Started the year of as free as a bird! its been kinda awesome really... but now its back to work at a new company!
this is just my second week, going pretty good so far. fingers crossed, knocking on wood and all that sort of stuff that it stays that way :)

And that's about it for this post 'cause I'm heading out for a beer now... beer trumps blog!

hopefully back soon with more.

3 September 2009

I'm BACK!

but then... maybe you didn't even know i was gone...

anyway...

back at work after ten (11? 12?) days roaming Uttarakhand, Agra and Fatehpur Sikri! pictures soon :) promise...

--------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: many moons later

so no pictures... mostly coz they're up on facebook and i cant be bothered to get them sorted and put them up here... so sue me :P
and if u read this blog and aren't friends with me on fb then its a miracle in any case! (and i ought to call the Vatican)

6 January 2009

Is it a Bird? Is it a Plane? No! It's the Procrastinator!

Well…. It’s Tuesday. The first one of the year! And I’ve done absolutely nothing work-wise today. Nada, zip, zilch… not a damn thing on my list. And that is suuuuuuuch a bad idea considering Tuesday’s are always the most f*all-est day of my week.

And now I’m going for lunch :P

Back in a bit... will post more then... maybe... or maybe I should just get down to work.

Well if I decide to do the responsible thing then Adios folks, and I promise to post something more worth reading soon!

oh!

and Happy New Year everyone!!

17 December 2008

How Much Is Your Day Sucking??

we could turn that into a fun game.... I'm pretty sure plenty of ppl would be in the running.
but anyway.
the answer to that question for me is A LOT!
its just past nine... i only got home from work about half an hour ago... and I'm back at the laptop working again :(
what's more... i have maybe another three hours of work left!

soooooo
here's a pick me up :)

your weekly dose of awwwwwwwww

Upala the Baby Gorilla at the Wilhelma Zoo

9 December 2008

"please install your witty title here"

coz I'm too lazy to do it.
its 12:43am... I'm doing some of tomorrows work so my Tuesday this week wont be as horrific as it was last week (9pm still at work! not unusual for some... but seriously. i am NOT that much of a workaholic!)
u might wonder "why, if she claims to be working, is Elle typing in her blog." uh duh! coz I'm bored with my work! like obvious much!!

lol... ok ok... I'll quit it with the bimbo talk... but yes... I'm bored. and yes, i do know that you're tired of hearing that. so someone! give me a constructive solution please (and by that i do not mean telling me to shut the heck up - you could try that... but i cant say you'll get the type of reaction you were hoping for.)

Anyway... seriously, someone tell me what to do with my life... coz I'm really beginning to have some doubts about whether or not I'm qualified to be making any decisions pertaining to it...

sigh. don't worry, its probably just that it being past my bedtime is giving me the gloomies.
Maybe i better stop spreading the love and get back to work so i actually get done and go to sleep soon.

5 December 2008

Cotton Wool

that's what I feel like my head's stuffed with.

today has been so mind numbingly boring! I've not done a single constructive thing!
and mainly, what I've thought about all day is what to buy a friend of mine for her birthday. which is this sunday.
And i totally forgot about that till she called yesterday to invite me over to her party.
We've been friends since we were four! i suck :P
Of course, this is only the first time i have EVER forgotten her birthday. and she always forgets mine... but that is really not an excuse!
anyway. anyone who knows me is well aware of the fact that i totally suck at keeping dates in my head.
Which kinda makes me wonder why i took history during my A levels... hmmmmm.... not so bright.

Anyway. What to gift?
December is always the worst month because of that one single question.
There are all the Christmas presents to worry about.
And more then just family etc, there's also the dumb secret santa at work thing. Which puts u in the non-enviable position of having to find a weeks worth of small presents for someone you don't even know all that well! (There are really only so many items of stationary that are gift-able to one person you know...)
and then i have two close friends with birthdays... and weirdly, they're two of the hardest women to shop for that i have EVER known!

So i guess we all know what I'm going to spend my Saturday morning doing. and yes, i do know that going gift hunting the day before a party is kinda last minute. but its not like i have a choice.

A New Year

It’s actually pretty well into Jan already, but I couldn’t come up with any other title.
Just bored I guess.

A Tarot card reader came to work the other day. She’s friends with one of the people who works here. Quite a few of us actually went in to get our cards read. It was pretty interesting on the whole. I had excellent cards, although she did tell me that I probably should have stuck with my original career choice. Which she followed up by saying that if I switch back, or want to learn anything new, I should make sure that I do before I turn 26, so I have quite a bit of time. And anyway, I’m not really sure how much I believe in this stuff. Not that I think its bogus or anything… no point in tempting fate right?

So, on the work front. Apparently my confirmation should come through soon, and even if it doesn’t, all changes will be applicable from this month. Which is fine by me. More on this later. Probably when things are a bit more settled and I can say more then suppositions.
We have a content team conference next week. We, the content teams from all over India, are all going to Chikmagalur on Thursday, for two days of presentations. We’ll be staying at the Taj, so once the presentations end at 6:30, I’m guessing a whole bunch of us are going to head straight for the pool.
Unless it’s cold.
Which, considering its Chikmagalur, I’m pretty sure it will be.
Not that I really mind. Swimming when its freezing is fun – just as long as you can go have a nice hot bath immediately after.

Ok, now I think I shall leave work… was only hanging around to put up a feature, which I have now done. So bye!

17 October 2006

Argh! Argh! Argh! Argh!

*jumping up and down in frustration*
I don’t know what’s wrong with me… I’ve got a weird version of writers block! Just cant seem to get the words out. Or rather… I’m STUCK!
Ok… sigh… let me explain. I have an article to write for work. Silly thing about Robbie Williams… but, for some unknown reason, I just cant get a handle on it! WHY!??
Gah… so my brief is basically, 700 words on Robbie. Make it current, make it snappy, use a lot of quotes, give the article a “Robbie” flavour. It should sound a bit like him. But… what is that exactly? I DON’T KNOW! I mean, sure, I do like some of Robbie’s stuff… and I guess I got to include info on Rudebox, since that’s the most current thing. But it cant be biographical! And I guess I’ve just gotten so used to writing these research papers for college, I don’t know what I’m doing here. Also, I think I’m suffering from a healthy, or un-healthy actually, since its stopping me form being able to write my article, which is producing a LOT of stress, amount of fear. Why? Well… I’m really scared I’m going to write crap, and they’re going to hate it. Which sucks. Coz now I cant write ANYTHING! Better to have bad work that can be fixed, then no work at all!
Which is why the frustration and jumping up and down.
Siiiiiigh… ok… now I’m going to take another shot at it. So ta-rah…

6 October 2006

Sorry for the cliché

TGIF!
The day I’ve had can best be described in one word. Gak! Hehe…. Actually, it wasn’t that bad. Had quite a lot of work to do… But it’s only 4:30 and I’m all done. I would leave, but its storming. So I’m stuck here till it stops.
Hopefully that’s soon. I have a piano class to take at 6:30, and I don’t feel like cancelling, the kid missed last week too. But boy, I am not in the mood to teach a five year old. Usually I love it. They’re all so intelligent and they like learning, so it’s no hardship… but it also take a LOT of patience. Five year olds do not have a large attention span. There’s an understatement! It’s challenging to keep them interested, but it’s also really amusing.
On a totally different topic… I’m listening to my music library on shuffle. The strangest playlist is popping up. I just went from Hot Steppa to Boulevard of Broken dreams, and weirdly enough, it wasn’t that much of a leap. In fact, it was a pretty good segue.
Ok… now I’m going to go check on the rain. And if it’s stopped, then I shall leave.

28 August 2006

Ok... so maybe I'm not a murderer

And also, I like the way this blog looks better then my other one.

Just posted a couple of poems up on that one. I created them a month or so ago, but only just got around to putting them online. May as well put ‘em up here too. Apologies to those who read the other one as well So here goes:

Sit Awhile
Sit awhile and think.
Sit and dream of all things,
That were, and are and will be.

Sit awhile and see.
See the thought flow,
Like the play of light upon a prism.
Many streams,
From one clear contemplation.

Sit awhile.
Life is only worth
Your well thought adaptation.

Destiny
I sleep,
In this unguarded moment,
The door is open
And you tiptoe in.

So maybe they’re just dreams.
Only wishful thinking
And not the destiny they seem.

But who’s to say?
Is there some science that could divine the truth?
Or will only time tell?

11 August 2006

ketch-up anyone?

Yes I know… terrible joke. Actually, I’m thinking of killing this blog… for a variety of reasons. But mainly coz I’m getting tired of apologizing every time I write for the fact that I haven’t written in months. So… maybe just one final post. And then officially axe it…

What to talk about? Well… lots has happened. Finals went ok. I assume. Haven’t gotten my grades yet. For my final project as well. So for all I know, I’m still in college…. What a happy thought.
I should probably call one of the faculty and find out what the heck is going on huh? Yes… I think that would be a good idea.
Meanwhile, I’ve started working. At… you guessed it, WorldSpace. Been here almost two months. Still not sure why they hired me… maybe I shouldn’t be writing that :) at office at the moment. Hehe… totally bored. Been working my ass off the whole of this week, coz a long weekend is coming up, and we wanted to finish all the work for the September issue of The Voice (WorldSpaces newsletter) before that. Actually, Monday isn’t technically a holiday, and Wednesday is only an optional holiday, but obviously everyone is taking Wed off, and Mon too, if they don’t have work. Which is the main reason for the crazy rush.
Anyway! As I was saying, I’m seriously, seriously bored. It’s always much worse to have nothing to do, after days of too much to do! I certainly find it much harder to cope. And when that happens… well… lets just say that I get a little paranoid. I start wondering, ‘am I doing ok?’, ‘do they like me?’, ‘will they want to keep me on after three months??’, and basically, fall into a quagmire of dark thoughts and self-doubt. NOT pretty :)… I assure you.
The people I work with are nice though. But I really, really don’t get why they think I know anything about editing, or writing for a magazine, or any of that valuable stuff necessary when your part of a content teem. I did tell them that although I did study media, my field of interest has always been film. And that I really haven’t had anything much to do with print media… maybe they weren’t listening.
See! That’s what I was talking about. Crazy thoughts! Although, sadly, true. I wonder what I’m doing with my life. I mean, I’ve always been interested in animation and Children’s Programming, what am I doing in a field so removed from all that? In a job I am totally unqualified for!? Seriously… what the heck is this? And why do I feel like the only one who doesn’t know where they’re going?
Frankly, I think I just need to chill. It’s the unflagging conviction of years of knowing exactly what I wanted to do with my life coming back to bite me. Saying ‘See!? This is what you get for being the type of person who decided what she wanted to do when she was 4 and stuck to it! THIS is what happens when you don’t go through that feeling of “What Next!!” after school! Serves you right you weirdo.’
Ok… now that I’ve really depressed myself, I think I better quit this topic. And the blog too… I never have believed in leaving on a high note. :)

7 January 2006

I’m BAAAACK!!!!!!!!

Hehehe
Hi people! Yes, yes… I know. Sorry for the whole dead blog thing. Explanations are necessary I assume? Well… actually things have just been madly rushed.
Exams got over… then I had a few days off… but sooo much to do in them… after which I pushed off for Hyd, then Goa. (wheeeee! Not – but more on that later.)
Got back to Hyd on the 3rd… and was back home on the 5th. Which was yesterday… well… actually, day before, since strictly speaking today is already the 7th.
Oh! Almost forgot…
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
May it b a great one for all of u. I certainly hope it is for me…
This semester is my final one… bit scary really. Now that I think about it properly I have a lil over 4 months to make up my mind about what I want to do with my life. Not exactly a happy thought. MONUMENTAL decisions must be made. Joy. Ack…
Mo-nu-mental problems is more like it… hehe… ok. Sorry, that was really bad. I know… but forgive me in my moment of weakness…
Also, one must blame any signs of insanity on the late hour.
It’s 4a.m. I was running a fever off and on all day…. WHAT THE HECK am I doin awake??!
Now that is a question I do not have an answer to… along with many others.
For example, why is ‘fruit’ spelt like that? It makes absolutely no sense! If u read that out phonetically… hehe… that’s one funny sounding word. Fruit should be spelt froot. Now THAT would make sense.
As would going to bed… which is what I think I shall do. So gnite folks. Goa and other fun topics at a later date… TA!

30 November 2005

Sigh!!!! Exam time… approaches…

In exactly 12 days to be precise.
Freaking out!
Also have this semester’s Final film due on Saturday… not really in the mood to write…
So. This can just count as a trivial little update. Will have a looong philosophical monologue as my next post to make up for it. :D hehe… just kidding of course… who would want to read that!?

29 October 2005

titleless

There’s someone stomping around above my head. Which is creepy. Coz our upstairs neighbours moved out!
Dint have college today, and dint go yesterday, coz of the rain!!! But it dint rain today… so actually, that sentence should go more like this.
Yesterday I tried to go to college. And got soaked walking up the road. Despite the fact that I had an umbrella. Thank god for cell phones… um… or who ever invented them. Which makes me wonder… who did invent cell phones? Do u know? I certainly don’t.
Anyway. As I was saying… I got soaked. Called our teacher (who, incidentally, is less then a year older then me! – and personally, I don’t think she’s at all qualified. She didn’t know who Orson Welles was!!!! our college is crap.) and told her I couldn’t turn up… then… The rain got worse. Luckily I was home and dry before that happened… but the police commissioner declared the 26th and 27th holidays for all educational facilities, coz road conditions are so bad. What with the flooding and all… today was the 26th. And it dint rain all day! so I guess we’ll have college tmrw. Coz as I said, college is crap… y cant they listen to the police commissioner? He is an authority figure after all… and he must have some idea of what he’s doing. Wait. This is India! What am I saying?! Lol… Just kidding, I’m sure he’s an excellent man and dedicated to his job…
Oh… damn. The internet just cut out… good thing I’m writing this on word… but it does mean I wont be posting again. Oh well…
Diwali holidays start next week. We get 9 days off! :) cool isn’t it… I love living in a multi-religious culture…
So… other then that, life is boring. In fact, I was so bored yesterday, that I sat ad watched Tarzan. How sad is that? It is such a crappy cartoon… but I was all alone at home, and it was raining! So naturally, a slight feeling of depression settled over me. and the only thing that helps in such a situation, is watching a really pathetic movie or cooking. And since I didn’t feel like doing the later… I sat and watched TV. Which, I should mention, is pretty much what I did today. Being on holiday is only fun if there are other people on holiday with you. Actually, Lavi had a holiday both days too… but yesterday it was all rainy and there was a massive puddle in front of her house, as in calf deep wading type puddle… so she was stuck at her place and I was stuck at mine. But today we baked :) which was fun. Made up a whole new cake recipe. Came out really well actually… so had that with ice cream… still some left. And k just about got home. She’s eating dinner right now… but when she’s done we can eat more CAKE n ICE CREAM! Yay :D

On the subject of the rain… what is WITH that!? Why are we having torrential downpours in October… seriously. This just goes to show, all u morons who thought global warming wouldn’t effect the world in our life times and therefore continued to pollute the earth without a twinge from your consciences… really brilliant move guys. Thank you sooo much for helping to decimate our home and make it that much less habitable for all the life it supports.
I think u should all go find some corner to cry in. and when u come out… go help someone!!! There are plenty of natural disasters to choose from… and almost everywhere in the world too… tragedy at your backdoors people. U cant turn a blind eye anymore… this means you! Get it now? I really wonder…

30 September 2005

Posting by popular demand

He he… say that 20 times fast… :)
I just did the most random thing… accidentally clicked ‘next blog’ and reached some guys journal. Written really well. Couldn’t help reading it!!! Anyway. My weirdness aside… actually, what else do I have to write about But that!? He he…
Ok
So. Not been well. Flu. No biggie. Got to skip college. Which wasn’t really that great a feat since we only had to go in a few hours on some days to show our faces. So basically got sleep and rested up. Which was great :D
There was an auto strike on today. And apparently some ppl were burning tyres and stuff… left unions on strike or something. So anyway, no one went to work, from home I mean. Not NO one at all! Whatever… bit sleepy. Late and I didn’t get that much nap time today…
Thinking of going to college tmrw. Not that I feel like it. But I’m not really sick anymore… but I have to go in on saterday. Ethnic day *barf* why do they have those? Have to dress up in a sari and everything… not my idea of fun.
Actually I don’t really mind wearing a sari that much… it’s ok. U get used to it. And it isn’t uncomfortable per se, just feels a bit awkward. Mainly it’s the getting dressed which is a pain. Hate that. And ironing the cholli and petticoat. That’s BAD. The one good thing is that I have my own sari’s… and therefore chollies and petticoats that actually fit. Major improvement to wearing something that doesn’t. but still, have to go sort out which one. Silk or cotton? What colour? What style? Bha! Rather just wear jeans and a t shirt… he he
Oh well… have to, so better sit tmrw and sort it all out.
At least I don’t have the problems of some of my friends! One of them has to go get her belly button ring removed coz her mom doesn’t know about it, and would FREEK OUT! He he… that’s why u should learn how to tie your own sari… not that I have anything to hide. Pity… :)

3 August 2005

home again, home again

Got home Monday… which was two days ago now. Still feel weird. There’s the usual weirdness of settling back into routine, but there’s an extra weirdness coz I have nothing to do. Which is making me very bored! Seriously… I’ve gotten so used to being almost constantly busy. Or at least constantly having company… and if there wasn’t someone around I watched TV or some such.
But here. I don’t have a schedule yet! That’s what’s bugging me. I don’t know exactly what I should be doing at all times. And so the free time is getting to me… this actually usually happens when u have an extended holiday. But that’s the thing! I’ve only had a couple of days off and I’m already bored.
So I guess tomorrow I shall settle down and figure out how to spend my time for the next two weeks… till college opens.
I’m dreading the college thing a little. I think our timings are going to be seriously messed up! At least, our first day seems pretty weird. College at 11. who has college at 11!? Even on the first day! It’s just too weird. If that’s actually our timing, that means college will end at 5! Crazy rush hour traffic every day! Not a happy thought. I hope this isn’t the case… but I’m not holding my breath.
There’s also the little matter of having no faculty. I wonder if they’ve found someone yet. They better have. That damn BS (our new princi… his name is Brahm Sharma. The abbreviation is my mom’s idea… he he) isn’t screwing up my last year!
Okie…. On the happier side. Job went pretty well. I think Vijay uncle was quite happy with the way things turned out. Which is good. I was a little worried (as u all know) but I made a tiny little film. And they are planning to use it. So I got paid! Yay!!! Only 3500. but that’s not too bad for a months work. And as only an intern!!!! We’re meant to be free labour after all… anyway. I’m definitely not complaining. :D
Oh… that reminds me! I’m supposed to be putting the Sri Lanka pics up here right? Hmmm… guess I’ll have to get Apsi to mail them to me. Only have hard copies.
Also, apparently my class co-ordinator has got a couple of job offers for me! :D stuff I can do while still in college. All animation stuff!!! Yippee! And I’m also probably going to be taking piano classes for a few kids. All small babies… so I really hope I don’t completely suck at it. Which is likely… haven’t really played the piano in over a year! So bad of me… anyway. As my mom pointed out. This will be a good way to get a little cash on the side while keeping in touch with the piano myself. And considering the usual fee is 500 bucks a month for an hour a week… it seems like a pretty good idea to me. have to get back in practice first though… also I really have to see how college goes. If my timing are too weird it may not be possible. Which I have already told the people who have asked. Which is only two kids so far… not too much of a problem I should think…
Lets see… he he… sounds like these next few weeks are actually going to be quite hectic and fun! I love being busy… but only if I also get the required amount of free time and sleep of course :)
Speeking of sleep… I should probably go to bed now. So gnite!!!
